In Memoriam: LTC Patrick Duncan Feely (Ret.)
SAPA family,
It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Duncan Feely (Ret.), who went home to be with the Lord on 09 December 2025 at the age of 84.
Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on April 7, 1941, Pat was raised in a military family and dedicated his life to service. After being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1964, he began his career as a combat medic and served honorably in multiple assignments, including Vietnam.
Throughout his distinguished 35-year Army career, Pat earned numerous prestigious awards, including the Legion of Merit, multiple Bronze Star Medals with "V" Device for Valor, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Medical Badge, among many others. His bravery and leadership reflected his unwavering courage and devotion to his fellow soldiers.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Army medicine, Pat was selected for a new Army initiative that allowed medics to transition into the Physician Assistant profession. He ultimately became the first Chief Physician Assistant for the Army Medical Specialists Corps, helping pave the way for future generations of Army PAs.
After his retirement from active duty on January 31, 2000, Pat and his wife Bonnie made their home in Bulverde, Texas. He continued to serve his community, enjoyed time with his family, and pursued his passions — especially hunting, fishing, and supporting youth sports.
